Monday the French tour has started in Nantes. The local newspaper Corse Matin wrote yesterday this very positive article of the show that lasted 2.5 hours. In April I Muvrini will also play in the Netherlands and Germany!

Presentations of “Imaginà” in Corsica

I Muvrini presents their Imagina-cd in the supermarket in Corsica

After the Belgian tour Jean-François and Alain Bernardini presented the new CD “Imaginà” at two Corsican supermarkets. The Corse Matin published this report, and wrote among other things that the title refers to the imaginal cells that appear during the transformation fron caterpillar to butterfly. The article also talks about the influences that can be heard on the CD: Bach, Mandela, Severn Cullis-Susuki, Martin Luther King and Gandhi. Indeed, a wonderful company that goes remarkably well together.

Severn Suzuki and “Pè quantu mi vendi” (For how much do you sell me?)

Severn Suzuki. She spoke at the highlight of the “United Nations Conference on Environment and Development” (UNCED) or “Earth Summit” in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. The Climate Change Convention was founded there. It aimed at the reduction of the emission of greenhouse gas, and people hoped that the adverse effects of climate change would be limited.
Severn Suzuki, 13 years old, spoke within 5 minutes such strong words, that we can still hear them. You can find them on the internet here.
I Muvrini uses at the beginning of “Pè quanti mi vendi” (“For how much do you sell me”) a short quote from her. These are the words of her text:
Coming up here today
I have no hidden agenda
I am fighting for my future
Losing my future is not like
Losing elections or a few points on stock market
I am here to speak

Video “Golu Caru” with Choristes in Banneux

The highlight regarding the concert series of I Muvrini of last year was early in the year, already on Sunday, January 8. I Muvrini was playing and singing with 300 Choristes in the church in the pilgrimage village Banneux in Belgium. The Choristes had been rehearsing for a year in order to be able to give this concert with excellence. They sang remarkably powerfully and could easily be understood. Of course everything under the inspiring leadership of Jacky Locks.
The song “Golu Caru” was performed as well. It is not yet on CD although I Muvrini have often performed it during concerts in the recent years. Especially with a choir, it sounds fantastic. But please also pay attention to the fresh beginning with the guitar, played by Mickey Meinert, and of course the beautiful violin solo at the end by Laurence Dupuis.
At the end of the song the choir sings the following text:

“Lichtmond 2″- project in Germany

Next year I Muvrini will travel to Germany for a series of concerts in April. Alain Bernardini has given a very short interview to the German Kulturnews. He says that, although they stand in the tradition of the Corsican traditional sounds, they should not be considered as museum attendants, since they are just too busy with modern music.

The article also mentions the German “Lichtmond”-project. I Muvrini it has also cooperated in it. Here you can listen to 30 seconds of it for free. You can purchase the full album “Lichtmond 2”at the German Amazon-website. If you wish to purchase the song only, it is available in the Itunes store for € 1.29. The song is called “Moments of Joy”. “Le plat pays/Mijn vlakke land (The flat land)” of Jacques Brel performed by Jean-François Bernardini

It’s well-known by now that Jean-Francois Bernardini can sing “Amsterdam” by Jacques Brel brilliantly. In Brussels he concluded with another beautiful song of this Belgian troubadour: “Le Plat Pays / The Flat Land”. Please take notice of the small text change. Jean-Francois sings “Le plat pays qui est le tien (” The flat land that is yours’) where Brel sang “Le plat pays qui est le mien” (The flat land that’s mine). As if Jean-François is giving the flat land back to the Belgians in the room. On guitar you hear again Mickey Meinert, and Achim Meier on the keyboard. At the end of the video there is an impression of the enthusiasm of the audience!

“Inseme” for Christmas!

For the last two months I Muvrini have been touring in Belgium. One of the encores at the concert in Brussels was an older song, “Inseme” (“Together”). This one seemed to me very appropriate for Christmas! Besides Jean-Francois Bernardini, there is also a leading role for guitarist Mickey Meinert.

Loïc Taillebrest sets Brussels on fire with his bagpipes

Loïc Taillebrest is already for a long time a solid force within I Muvrini. He can play various wind instruments, but he is mostly known for his bagpipes playing in ”À voce Rivolta”. In “Quadrigliu” he puts himself even more in the spotlights. Last Friday he set Brussels on fire with that song. Experience it yourself!

Presentation “Imaginà” in Corsica

If you are staying in Corsica during the Christmas holidays, you may have the opportunity to attend one of the presentation sessions of the “Imaginà”-cd in two Géant supermarkets on the island. This will take place on December 21 in Mezzavia, nearby Ajaccio, and on December 22 in Furiani, nearby Bastia. This will start at 17.30 hr on both days.
