Corse Matin about the performance of Grand Corps Malade in Bastia

By , August 11, 2010 7:59 pm

Naturally, the Corse Matin could not evade the performance of Grand Corps Malade with I Muvrini in Bastia, last Monday. Yesterday there was a sort of review of the concert in the newspaper. There were about 1,500 visitors who attended the concert. With the encores Grand Corps Malade suddely entered the stage to “slam” with I Muvrini ‘Una Terranova “. After that Grand Corps Malade and  Jean-François Bernardini read the poem “Tu seras un homme mon fils” from Kipling, as you can see in the picture accompanying the article. Grand Corps Malade read a line in French, Jean-François reiterated that line in the Corsical language. It is a long poem and it made quite an impression, because everyone was deathly quiet during the reading.

Corse Matin about the performance of the pupils of the school of music in Ghisonaccia

I Muvrini and pupils Anima in Corse Matin

Yesterday there was an article in the Corse Matin about the performance of the pupils of the  school of music Anima in Ghisonaccia, last Saturday. That performance was definitely successfull. In the afternoon Jean-François encouraged the pupils by saying:  ”N’oubliez pas qu’un instrument de musique est comme un ami, il faut l ‘apprivoiser, apprendre à aimer, vous l’avez pour la vie et il est un lien social extraordinaire”. With these words Jean-François is saying something truthfull and well-chosen, which is almost impossible to translate. If I give it a try I make this out of it: “Please do not forget that your instrument is like a friend, one has to learn to control it, learn to love it, you’ll have it for the rest of your life and it creates an extraordinary social bond”.

Giru 2010 Bastia: a big party with Grand Corps Malade

By , August 10, 2010 9:36 am

The concert last night in Bastia of I Muvrini was definitely a big party. “Ora Sarà” and “Ùn Ti Ne Scurdà” unleased the audience and they went completely delirious. A big cheer rose up when Grand Corps Malade went on the scene with the encores. They sang “Una Terranova”, which is again a nice happy song to hear in the open air. After that Jean-François and Grand Corps Malade read a poem by Rudyard Kipling. It was again a memorable Giru evening yesterday, in Bastia!
The photos underneath have been taken at the soundcheck with Grand Corps Malade.

Giru 2010 Ghisonaccia: the focus is on the children

By , August 8, 2010 8:40 am

Last night, Saturday night, the focus was on the children of Ghisonaccia. In the first part of the show the pupils of the school of music Anima performed four pop songs. They played a.o. ”Wonderwall” from Oasis and “Hallelujah” from Leonard Cohen, and they did it quite well. At the end  of the show the band was also accompagnied by other children of Ghisonaccia, playing on different instruments with “Inseme Si Pò” and showing signs with the text of the final song “Sin’a l’umanita”.
Anyone who has ever had attended a concert of the Giru of I Muvrini knows that often the clouds of smoke are created on stage. Yesterday this was also the case. It makes it more difficult to take good pictures, but yesterday you could sometimes barely see the band on stage. But occasionally it brings, I think, also nice effects, like on the attached photos. In any case, it was again a big party again, yesterday in Ghisonaccia.

Grand Corps Malade with I Muvrini in Corte and Bastia

I Muvrini and Grand Corps Malade in Corte

Last night the confluence of the two different worlds of the city and the village became real in Corte. That means: the slameur Grand Corps Malade joined the stage together with I Muvrini to sing ”Una Terranova”. The Corse Matin reports about it today. Grand Corps Malade, according to the article, has had a good relationship with Corsica for about 15 years now. He visits the island at least once a year. When Jean-François asked him to work together on “Una Terranova” he agreed immediately, and both singers have written a part of the text. “Nous avons de grands points de convergence”, as he summarizes the relationship with I Muvrini. Next Monday there will be a reprise of this exceptional cooperation in Bastia!
By the way, tomorrow, Saturday, August 7, the pupils of the music school Anima will be the support act of the concert of I Muvrini in Ghisonaccia. The concert will begin at 21.00 hrs.

“Gioia” Giru Corsica 2010 has started: Folelli!

By , August 2, 2010 11:08 am

Last night the Giru 2010 started. It is named after the last album, “Gioia”. The “room” was quite full in Folelli, where the wind was a bit strong but for the rest it was perfect weather for the concert. For those who have already seen the band play this year, there were little surprises, or it should have been the acousticly performed “Teni Bonu”.
